Frequently Asked Questions
Can concussions affect vision?
Concussions frequently affect visual processing because over half of the brain is involved in vision. Common issues include blurred or double vision, difficulty focusing, eye strain, and sensitivity to light.
These problems often result from disrupted eye coordination or impaired communication between visual and balance systems. Visual symptoms may worsen with reading, screen use, or bright environments.
Vision therapy or referral to a neuro-optometrist can be helpful when symptoms persist. Treating visual dysfunction often significantly improves overall concussion recovery.
