Frequently Asked Questions

Can concussions affect hearing?

Hearing-related symptoms are less common than vision issues but can still occur after concussion. These include tinnitus (ringing in the ears), sensitivity to sound, or difficulty processing auditory information.

Such symptoms may result from injury to auditory pathways or increased sensitivity within the nervous system. Loud or busy environments can become overwhelming during recovery.

Most auditory symptoms improve with time, but persistent issues should be evaluated by a specialist. Managing noise exposure and allowing gradual sensory re-acclimation can aid recovery.
