Frequently Asked Questions

Is second impact syndrome real?

Second impact syndrome is a rare but serious condition in which a second concussion occurs before the brain has fully healed from the first. This can lead to rapid brain swelling and can be life-threatening.

It is most often reported in adolescents and young adults, whose brains may be more vulnerable to metabolic dysregulation. Although rare, the consequences are severe enough to warrant strict prevention.

This condition underscores the importance of never returning to play or high-risk activities while symptomatic. Full recovery and medical clearance are essential for brain safety.
