Frequently Asked Questions

What is post-concussion syndrome?

Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) occurs when concussion symptoms persist for weeks or months after the initial injury. Symptoms may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, cognitive difficulties, sleep problems, and mood changes.

PCS does not mean that the brain is continuing to be injured. Rather, it reflects ongoing dysregulation in brain function, often influenced by physical, psychological, and social factors. Stress and anxiety can contribute to symptom persistence.

Treatment for PCS is individualized and may include physical therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, mental health support, and gradual activity resumption. Most people with PCS improve over time with appropriate care.
