Frequently Asked Questions
Can symptoms appear immediately?
Some concussion symptoms appear immediately after injury, such as headache, dizziness, or confusion. Others may develop gradually over hours or days as brain metabolism and inflammation evolve.
Delayed symptoms can include worsening headache, increased fatigue, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, or mood changes. This delayed onset is one reason why ongoing monitoring after a head injury is essential.
Because symptoms can change, individuals may feel “fine” initially and then worsen later. Avoiding strenuous activity and seeking medical evaluation even after mild injuries helps ensure delayed symptoms are properly addressed.
